Joe,
I have heard a few things that concern me.
First, I heard that the Allen Group brought a land deal package to the council for consideration, and that Mayor Pro Tem Leal voted on this deal that would certainly benefit him through his own property value making his vote illegal (as a conflict of interest issue). I also heard that Mayor (and I use that term loosely) Steele voted to break a tie vote on this deal that would also benefit him through property he has interest in as husband to owner Janie Fricke, and by mere nature of the community property law in Texas, he could receive monetary benefit from this deal making his vote illegal (also as a conflict of interest issue) in the matter too. Is there any truth to this rumor?
Also, I have heard that Root and Hudson hatchet man John Eggen, yes, the one with felony convictions, has been seen spending time inside City Hall, possibly in restricted areas inside the City Secretary's office very late at night pilfering through records. Is there any truth to this rumor?
And one other rumor I have heard is that there is a Mayor Steele campaign advertisement in the form of a City Newsletter, in violation of state law, outlining all the good that the Mayor has done since being elected, and that this newsletter was funded by public funds?
Would you please look into these issues and determine, to the best of your ability anyway, if these rumors are true?
