TX DSHS Acknowledges Bain Complaint

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, a complaint has been filed against mayoral candidate and EMT Paramedic Teresa Bain. In response to our inquiry, Assistant Press Officer Carrie Williams confirmed a complaint was received on April 11, stating "Additional information about complaints is confidential by law."

A number of readers have commented regarding claims in recent campaign letters that Teresa Bain is a firefighter. Evidently, some concerned citizens have notified the Texas Department of State Health Services regarding Ms. Bain's credentials for eligibility to receive the EMT-P certification. Anonymous sources confirmed that the initial complaint filed two years ago received no action and was resubmitted in April 2008 as requested by TX DSHS. In the complaint, Bain is allegedly accused of falsifying a high school diploma which is required as a prerequisite for licensing as an Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic.

According to state records available online, Ms. Bain currently holds an active EMT-P certification through May 2010 and is employed by Lone Star EMS of Richardson, TX.
Employment was verified via telephone prior to publication. No further information was available at press time.

In all fairness to Ms. Bain, we would gladly publish a retraction with verifiable proof of GED or graduation.
