Wilmer PD Sponsors Toy Drive

For some children the Christmas tree looks pretty lonely on that magical Christmas morning, but the community of Wilmer has a chance to change that.

The Wilmer Police Department is leading a Toy Drive and volunteers are more desperate for donations this year because so many struggle in these tough economic times. But the department knows the generosity of those who are able to make a difference and are calling on all to do a little or a lot by donating an unwrapped toy. While we prefer toys and food to be donated cash gifts will be welcomed as well. Boys and girls bikes are always great gifts to make children smile on Christmas morning.

Those who can help are encouraged to do so as soon as possible by dropping donations off at the Wilmer Police Department, City Hall or the Library. The deadline for donations will be 5pm on Monday December 22nd. Anyone who wishes to volunteer their time to wrap toys and put baskets together are encouraged to call Chief Kemp at (972)441-6565 or by email at wilmerpolice@cityofwilmer.com to get more information as this will be a great help.

For families who are in need of help this holiday season please sign up at the Police Department or City Hall as soon as possible.

For more information call (972)441-6373 or (972)441-6565.
