UNBELIEVEABLE...
The City Council plans to modify the tax abatement agreement with Whirlpool - we don't know why or how, but this is the biggest pot of tax revenue in our district and the outgoing council is going to change something.
Your outgoing City Council is then going to create six new "City Officers" with employment contracts to protect their jobs from the newly elected council members:
BUILDING INSPECTOR BILL BURNS
CODE ENFORCER MARCUS SMITH
FIRE CHIEF MARCUS SMITH
CITY SECRETARY ALICE HOLLOWAY
MIKE HALLA (attorney) and
POLICE CHIEF VICTOR KEMP
Outgoing and definitely not re-elected councilman VICKY VANDYGRIFF will resign just days before she is unseated - the council might appoint someone to fill her last few days in office.
Then the council will accept MATIAS LEAL's resignation and most likely fill the position with - VICKY VANDYGRIFF, giving the ousted council member another year to "represent" the people.
(ED NOTE: BRING YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS TO WATCH THE FOLKS YOU THREW OUT OF OFFICE PUSH YOUR FACE BACK IN THE DIRT FOR ANOTHER YEAR OF STEWARDSHIP UNDER THEIR WATCH - 200 to 300 RESIDENTS WOULD BE GREAT)

This is hilarious as to how the mayor overlooks the people needs in the city of wilmer (lower case because I have no respect for the way he is running things).The needs and prosperity of this city should be precedent before the needs of the mayor.
It seems like the rights of the citizens are being overlooked, overturned, and buried.I have seen and heard many things through my travel in that area, and witness unprofessional officials as they horde their position over concerned citizens. I have kept my mouth closed, but my heart opened, but enough has become enough as witness (anonymously)at the city meeting. The light is about to shine through, and all will be reveal as I will no longer be on the sideline of silence.
Is there that can be done in refernce to the "City Officers" positions. (Lying)Marcus Smith, (Racist)Victor Kemp, and (Racist)Mark Hamilton needs to go. It's not over, can't wait until Hector Pena wins Mayor next year. Wilmer needs to be overhauled ASAP. See you soon in the next Council meeting.
Oh how I wish the citizens of Wilmer would have listened to those of us who tried to tell them what Steele was up to! Initially Steele put up a "pretty" public front but behind closed doors he is a liar, very ignorant and just plain mean. Buttttttt Mr. Mayor...you will be getting what you deserve and I'm so glad I'm here to witness it. May you reap three times the heartache your ignorant actions created for some !
Can somebody let me know what transpired in reference to the Infamous ones getting a contract by the outgoing City Council. In my opinion, I thing Mrs. Holloway needs to keep her job. She is only doing what she is told to take care of her family, but for the rest of them they have to go ASAP. Enjoy your time Steele you are out next year.
Holloway is just as crooked as the rest of them...they ALL need to go including the Chief of Police. Its far beyond time that they got some of what they have given....
This site is getting just as bad as the old the trouble with wilmer blog. Why does there have to be such negativity and innuendos? Name calling and gloating will not improve Wilmer. A new council was voted in so let us see if things change or if it will just be the same ole same ole with different faces. I am open to listening and giving a chance but sometimes I think that it is all about what agenda is best for groups or individuals and not the city as a whole. Adults should be able to work together and be sincere in doing what is best for the city and not personal agendas in the disguise of good for the city. Discussion and/or debate is good for all and can be done without negativity and name calling.
Becky - I somewhat agree with you but there are no innuendos in my statements. These are facts..unless you have a mayor, city council, fire chief and code enforcement officer and chief of police who can be honest, work together and do what is really right for the citizens and the city employees... the City of Wilmer will never change. Its the same every year...the poor employees worry about whether or not the mayor or a council member likes them or whether they will have a job EVERY year. The city needs serious change and until that happens NOTHING is going to change. I'm sorry if it seems negative, but I have to say that it is finally good to see the other side shaking in their shoes for once and getting some of the negative that they have been giving.
